Why it still matters

Links are the vote Google still counts

You can fix every technical issue, publish better content than the page above you, and still sit on page two. When two pages answer the same query equally well, Google falls back on which one other websites trust. That trust arrives as a backlink.

The problem is that most link building sold today is not link building. It is a spreadsheet of domains bought in bulk, published on sites nobody reads, pointing at your money page with exact-match anchor text. That pattern is trivially easy for Google to detect, and it is the reason so many businesses have a backlink profile they need to disavow rather than build on.

We work the slower way. We find the pages your competitors earned links from, work out why those editors said yes, and give them a better reason to link to you. It takes longer. It also keeps working after the next core update.

What we build

Six link types, matched to your niche

We do not run one tactic for every client. The mix depends on your industry, your current backlink profile and what your competitors have already earned.

Editorial guest posts

Original articles placed on real industry publications with genuine editorial standards. You approve the site, the topic and the anchor text before we write a word.

Digital PR & data stories

We build a survey, a data study or an original tool worth writing about, then pitch it to journalists. These earn the highest-authority links and keep attracting them for years.

Niche edits

Placements inside articles that already rank and already have their own backlinks. Faster to secure than a new post and they pass equity from day one.

Broken link building

We find dead links on high-authority resource pages, build the replacement resource, and tell the site owner. Nobody wants a broken page, so the acceptance rate is high.

Expert quotes & commentary

We put your founder or specialists in front of journalists sourcing quotes. Real attribution, real authority signals, and it builds your personal E-E-A-T at the same time.

Competitor gap links

Every domain linking to three of your competitors but not to you is a warm prospect. We pull that list, qualify it, and go after the ones actually worth having.

Quality control

Nine checks before we contact a single site

Most agencies sell you a domain rating and hope you do not look further. Here is every metric we score a prospect on, and the line below which we walk away.

Placement vetting criteria

Domain RatingDR 40 minimum
A floor, not a target. DR alone proves nothing without the checks below.
Monthly organic traffic1,000+ sessions
A high-DR site with no traffic is a link farm wearing a suit. We check real visits.
Topical relevanceDirect or adjacent
The linking page has to sit in your topic cluster, not just the linking domain.
Traffic trendFlat or rising
A site that lost 60% of its traffic in the last core update is not a site to be linked from.
Outbound link ratioUnder 100 per page
Pages stuffed with outbound links dilute equity and signal a paid-link footprint.
Indexation statusFully indexed
We verify the exact page is indexed after placement. An unindexed link is worth nothing.
Content qualityHuman editorial
If the site's own articles read like AI output, its authority is on borrowed time.
Spam signalsClean profile
We screen for gambling, adult, pharma and casino outbound links before we approach.
Link attributeDo-follow, in-content
Contextual placement inside the body copy. Never a footer, sidebar or author box link.

What we will never do

  • Private blog networks. A network you cannot see is a network Google can.
  • Bulk directory and profile links. No signal, real risk.
  • Comment and forum spam. Cheap, obvious, and it makes your brand look desperate.
  • Exact-match anchor stuffing. Anchor profiles need to look earned, because earned ones look messy.
  • Link exchanges at scale. Reciprocal patterns are one of the easiest footprints to spot.
  • Auto-generated or AI-spun guest posts. Editors reject them and readers bounce.
  • Fake metrics. Every report links to the live URL so you can check it yourself.

Already have a messy profile? We audit what is pointing at you now, disavow what needs disavowing, and rebuild from a clean base. Cleaning up comes before building up — there is no point adding good links to a profile that is dragging you down.

Process

How a campaign runs, month by month

Backlink gap audit

We map your current profile against your three closest ranking competitors and identify every referring domain they have that you do not. That gap list becomes the campaign plan, prioritised by what will move your target keywords fastest.

Target page and anchor strategy

We decide which pages need authority and in what order. Usually that means strengthening supporting content first so it can pass equity inward, rather than pointing everything at your homepage. Anchor text is planned as a distribution, not a keyword list.

Prospecting and vetting

We build a prospect list, then run every domain through the nine checks above. Roughly seven in ten prospects fail at this stage, which is exactly the point. You see the approved shortlist before outreach begins.

Outreach and content

Personalised pitches written by a human who read the site. Where a placement needs an article, our writers produce it to the publisher's standard — researched, original and useful enough that the editor wants it independently of your link.

Verification and reporting

Every live link is checked for indexation, attribute and placement. Your monthly report shows the live URL, target page, anchor text, DR, organic traffic and the date it went live — plus ranking movement on the keywords the campaign is built around.

Timeline

Link building compounds — it does not spike

Authority takes time to register and longer to convert into rankings. Most campaigns show early movement on lower-competition terms around month three, with head terms following once the profile has depth behind it.

Pick the pace that fits your market

Links pull harder when the rest is right

Backlinks amplify a page Google already understands. If the page is slow, thin or badly structured, authority has less to work with.

FAQ

Link building questions, answered honestly

How long before I see ranking improvements?

Expect early movement on lower-competition keywords around month three, and meaningful change on commercial head terms between months six and nine. Google has to crawl the linking page, index it, and then re-evaluate your page against everything else competing for the query. Anyone promising rankings in 30 days is either buying links or guessing.

Are your backlinks safe? Can they get my site penalised?

We build only in-content, editorially placed links on sites with real traffic and clean profiles. No PBNs, no link farms, no automated placement. The pattern Google penalises is scale plus footprint — hundreds of identical links appearing at once from unrelated sites. A manual campaign that grows at a natural pace does not create that pattern.

Do you guarantee a specific number of links per month?

We agree a target range rather than a hard number, because quality control has to be able to say no. If a month's prospects mostly fail vetting, we would rather deliver fewer good links and carry the shortfall forward than pad the report with placements we would not want on our own site.

Can I see and approve the sites before you place a link?

Yes. You get the vetted shortlist with each domain's DR, organic traffic and topical fit before any outreach begins, and you can remove anything you do not want associated with your brand.

What is the difference between a guest post and a niche edit?

A guest post is a new article we write and place, so you control the topic and the surrounding context. A niche edit adds your link into an article that already exists, already ranks and already has its own backlinks. Guest posts give more control; niche edits usually pass equity sooner. Most campaigns use both.

Do you write the content for guest posts?

Yes, and it is written by humans to the publisher's editorial standard. You see every draft before it is submitted. Publishers with genuine standards reject AI-generated submissions, so this is not a corner worth cutting.

What if I already have toxic backlinks?

We start with an audit of what is currently pointing at you, separate the genuinely harmful from the merely low-value, and prepare a disavow file for the ones that need it. Google ignores most low-quality links on its own, so over-disavowing does more harm than good — we are deliberately conservative about it.

How much does link building cost?

It depends on your niche and target authority level. A DR 50 placement in a local service niche costs far less than one in SaaS, finance or legal, where editors receive far more pitches. We quote after the gap audit so the number reflects what your specific market actually requires. Request a quote here.

Do you work with agencies on a white-label basis?

Yes. We deliver unbranded reports and communicate through your account manager so the work sits under your brand. Email [email protected] with your volume requirements.
